When I look back at my life there are no constants. Things change all the time, some changes are subtle some are progressive and may take us a while to realize, but nonetheless, eventually everything changes.
For some of us, this idea is good. We’re ready for change. When life feels stagnant for a while we feel as if a little change is the only thing that will get us out of this rut that’s been created. Unfortunately, we’re humans and we’ll never fully be satisfied so we’ll quickly get bored and await the next change to spice things up again.
For the other half, who are not so apt to change, this idea can be scary and sometimes too intimidating to think about, let alone embrace. Its hard, but change happens. Sometimes even when the situation seems so awesome that you want it to stay the same forever, it changes without so much as an explanation.
This can be very discouraging. When something you care about falls apart or a close friendship is left to wither away, it can be difficult to pick up the pieces and be ready for the next step. To combat this constant stream of changes my advice is to keep focused on the one true constant. Throughout all my ups and down, my failed relationships, forgotten dreams, unwise choices, I have been able to rely on the one who has never changed, Jesus. Its easy to fill like you’re being pulled in a million different directions when you are amidst the chaos, but when the storm clears you will see that He is always the same. His grace never wavers and his mercy never ceases. Trust isn’t a one time thing, we need to be continually trusting the Lord and the plan he has for us. Look to Him and He will be your anchor when everything else around you seems to be moving to fast to keep up.
